A hole we should quit digging

Lately, Ive been noticing a lot of Hummers driving around. Not so coincidentally, Ive also noticed gas is at $1.37 (yes, something NJ is good for--aside from the gas service). Please heed my warning: now is NOT the time to relax our goals toward energy independence that seemed so passionate and pervasive not so long ago (not so coincidentally,when gas prices were doubled). If demand for wasteful, destructive automobiles (from the ever-so lucky Big Three) manages to recuperate, then do not point any figures when oil prices sky rockets further, the Middle East and China tighten our puppet strings, and the world continues to deteriorate at the expense of our livelihoods. I pray (not literally, of course) that history doesn't repeat itself this time--but who the hell am I kidding.
